Designed as a cost-effective phone-line replacement for existing “Dial-up” communicators reporting Contact ID or Pulse type formats, the asI-Comm Broadband Communicator will interface with that Dialer, accept the signals as an interim receiver, then relay the data to the Central Station via the subscriber's broadband internet connection.
NO PHONE LINE IS NEEDED.
The asI-Comm board is an interface between an Ethernet Module that maintains a continuous connection to the Central Station and an AES 7067 IntelliTap-II to simulate dial tone, accept the Contact ID or Pulse format signals from the panel’s dialer, and “kiss off” the panel*.
The asI-Comm talks directly with Central Station Servers. The device is configured with Primary and Backup addresses and will automatically switch between them as necessary.
The Account # and Phone # in the panel do not need to be changed. The Ethernet Module has a unique Serial # which will be tied to an Account # at the Central Station.
The unit can be powered from the Panel’s Aux Power output (requires 12Vdc 300ma max) or a 12Vdc Power Supply can be used.
It maintains a connection at all times and is checking-in at set intervals (default 60 sec). You will receive a Service Notification if the communicator does not check-in (default 4 hours) and you can change these intervals if necessary. A daily “no-checkin” event will continue to be generated until the connection is reestablished.
*Just like in normal “dial up” communications, the Alarm Panel will not receive a kiss-off tone unless the Central Station Server acknowledges the signal.
